Celtic Community News – Pride Of Tameside Award & Anyone For Tennis
Celtic Community News have two new items to announce. First is the winning of the third place position for the ‘Pride Of Tameside Awards’ in the club of the year category.
Held at Dukinfield Town Hall on 23rd September our own Mike Smith, Stalybridge Celtic’s Community Development Officer, said “We are thrilled to receive the Award in recognition of the Community Development work we do throughout the community, from our Walking Football Team, Vintage Celtic, to our Disability Team, Active Goals Schools programme to our Ticket Initiatives, we can offer something for everyone. We look forward to improving on what we have achieved during the last year and hope to challenge for the first prize next year!”
Well done Mike as it was all down to you and also a big thank you from the Vintage Celtic members who appreciate all the hard work and effort you do to support us. Full story on the Stalybridge Celtic website.
The second item of Celtic Community News is the donation of a tennis net from our nearby neighbours, the Priory Tennis Club. This will allow Vintage Celtic to arrange fun sessions of football tennis, perhaps in teams of doubles some time in the future.
Priory Tennis Club have very kindly agreed to deliver tennis coaching sessions, free of charge to the Celtic Disability Team and some of their members have challenged Vintage Celtic to a game of walking football at Bower Fold. Again full information on the Stalybridge Celtic website.
Things are looking good at the moment with Vintage Celtic having an increase in membership and an excellent training facility at the New Charter Academy in Ashton-under-Lyne. Welcome to the 4 new lads to join us recently, Kevin Dicks, Keith Hall, Chris Kiely and Mike McHale Smith who also played in the September session of the Cheshire Walking Football League.
